Busch Gardens

Busch Gardens is an African-themed animal theme park located in Tampa, Florida.  Busch Gardens has an annual attendance of over 4 million a year, making it the 11th most visited amusement park in North America.  The 335-acre Africa-inspired theme park has numerous roller coasters, over 2,000 animals, and entertaining live shows.  There is something to do for kids of all ages, making it a great family adventure spot.

Tampa museum of art

The museum of art is a museum on the riverfront which displays a collection of Greek and Roman antiques and sculpture.  Visitors can browse through the galleries, wander through the serene riverfront sculpture garden, and check out the beautiful museum shop that has unique gifts and souvenirs.  The museum also offers events such as art classes and Buddhist meditation.

Museum of science and industry

Museum of Science and Industry, Inc. operates as a museum.  On display are articulated dinosaurs, a beautiful butterfly garden, a diminutive forest oasis in a sea of urban development, and an IMAX theatre.  The company’s visiting exhibits include a museum of science and industry, and an art gallery. It also operates a planetarium that recreates the night sky from any time from the past, present, and future from anywhere on the planet; an interactive planetarium capable of playing movies, ultra 3D graphics, and live videos from NASA; and a science works theater. In addition, Museum of Science and Industry, Inc. offers jewelry, butterfly and ladybug items, merchandise from local artists, rocks, and fossils.

Ybor city museum state park

Ybor city museum state park is a Florida State Park in Tampa.  The museum occupies the former Ferlita Bakery building at 1818 9th Avenue in the Ybor City Historic District.  The bakery was known for producing cuban bread and its ovens are part of the museum displays covering the history of the cigar industry and the Latin community from the 1880s through the 1930s.  Ybor City was once known as the “Cigar Capital of the World”.  Cigars were a big business and had an incredible economic impact on the area.  The museum has exhibits that illustrate how the immigrant cigar workers and their families lived and worked.  Outside you can explore the peaceful 19th-century-style garden and tour a typical cigar worker’s home.

Tampa Riverwalk

Tampa Riverwalk is a 2.6 mile-long open space and pedestrian trail development along Hillsborough River in Tampa.  It connects many of the city’s most popular attractions, parks, and restaurants.  The broad paved path follows the banks of the Hillsborough River and Garrison Channel and is easily accessible to everyone.  Some landmarks that are on the Riverwalk include Heights Public Market, Waterworks Park, Tampa Museum of Art, Curtis Hixon Park, the Convention Center, and the Tampa Bay History Center.

Glazer Children’s Museum

The Glazer Children’s Museum is a children’s museum located in downtown Tampa, Florida, next to the Tampa Museum of Art and Curtis Hixon Park, alongside the Tampa Riverwalk. It is part of the Waterfront Arts District. Housed in a 53,000-square-foot facility in downtown Tampa, the museum features 170 interactive exhibits in multiple themed areas. Traveling exhibits supplement the museum’s permanent collection.

Lowry Park Zoo

Lowry Park Zoo is a 63-acre nonprofit zoo, which is home to 1,300 animals.  There are giraffes, rhinos, hippos, lions and tigers, along with animals native to Florida including Alligators and Crocodiles.  This zoo is recognized by the state as the center for Florida wildlife conservation and biodiversity.  It also exists as a center for conservation of endangered wildlife.  Lowry Park Zoo has been voted the #1 Family Friendly Zoo in the country by Parents Magazine and is a five-time winner of the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence.

Florida Aquarium

One of the best aquariums in the south, this aquatic environment features more than 20,000 plants and animals.  Exhibits document the movement of water from wetlands to ocean and include a million-gallon coral reef display that houses over 200 species of fish.  Other exhibits include river otters, alligators, and deep sea fish.  Kids can get up close and personal with stingrays, horseshoe crabs, urchins, and starfish. Twice a day there are Penguin Meet and Greets with African Black-Footed Penguins.

Hillsborough River State Park

Hillsborough State Park is your best bet for experiencing Florida nature without having to drive very far.  Located upriver from Downtown Tampa, this is one of Florida’s oldest and most popular state parks.  The park consists of over 2,990 acres, and there are more than seven miles of trails that run throughout.  One can go camping, picnicking, swimming, kayaking, or biking and hiking on the aray trails.  The park has award-winning campgrounds, a restaurant, and gift shop.

Armature Works

Armature Works is part of a 50-acre riverfront site that is one of the most innovative concepts in Tampa.  It is a 73,000 square foot mixed use commercial space consisting of innovative eateries, a public marketplace, imaginative event spaces and an exclusive coworking space.  Heights Public Market features an open floor plan with communal seating surrounded by 14 bars and restaurants showcasing the top chefs in the Bay area.  Armature Works was once known as the Teco Streetcar Warehouse and is now a modernized neighborhood hangout for Tampa’s waterfront community.

Tampa theatre

Built in 1926, the Tampa Theatre is one of America’s most elaborate movie palace’s.  It is a community landmark.  The theatre hosts more than 600 events annually, which includes a full schedule of first run and classic films, concerts, special events, tours, and educational programs.  Visitors to the theatre will enjoy world class entertainment under the night sky in a romantic mediteranean courtyard.  See link to view the virtual tour:
